Donald’s Boat (and other aqueous play-areas)
This wasn’t around when I was a kid but my younger siblings LOVED it!Water babies will absolutely adore this type of recreation. There is something thrilling about running around with the fear of getting soaked at any moment with the harmless but fun-inducing weapon of water. Little boys can run rampant aboard Donald’s Boat (don’t worry Moms, it is infinitely docked at Mickey’s Toon Town Fair) spraying each other playfully with H2O. But make sure to bring an extra pair of undies and clothes. Or you can buy that little Poseidon a new outfit from the gift shop conveniently located opposite this attraction.
Playhouse Disney
Personally I’ve never been inside the studio to watch the show but its guaranteed to please the under 7’s! All their favorite early morning Disney characters come to life in a live stage audience participation show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Backlot. Kids can clap and sing-a-long to the music, and parents can just take a breather as their kids are distracted (and happy) for a good 30 minutes.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Hands down one of my favorite rides. I’ll never grow out of this one. I love the eerieness of the rides’ theme as well as how it morphs as you sail along the murky waters of the Caribbean. First its a chilling warning from the Captain of the deep, Davy Jones; in one of the most stunning effects I’ve ever seen. A thin veil of mist flows down to reveal the image of this barnacled-cephalopod buccaneer. Notice how he says “ Proceed..” Nothing special, I just love how he says it :p From the scenes of the Mercado “we wants the red ‘ead!”, to the hilarious chase scenes (one involving chicken noises), to the 3 serenading pirates and their horse, to the hairy legged pirate drinking rum on the side of the bridge, this is one ride you won’t soon forget. Keep an eye out for Cap’n Jack Sparrow. He be stirrin’ trouble somewheres...
The giftshop is loaded with Pirate paraphernalia! Go shop me hearties yo ho!

Disney for Under 10's (Boy Edition)
So! I know its been a little while since I first wrote here. That’s because I’ve been having a hard time deciding what Park or Attraction I should write about first! How does one come about describing that which one loves most? I’ll try to simplify this task by just writing what comes to me at this very moment, because I have a friend waiting for my tips and advice. And since she has 2 young boys I’ll start at the beginning, where we all came from...childhood.
To simply simplify the philosophy of Walter Elias Disney, I revert back to the now infamous plaque at the gates of Disneyland: “...where parents and children could have fun together.”
I remember the first time I walked down the middle of Main Street U.SA at Walt Disney World. It was a sweltering hot July morning in the year 1996. I remember thinking that this castle is way bigger than the one in Paris (but then I much rather preferred the pink hue of the latter) I was eight years old, a little older than her boys then. However my brother was six, and being the video game aficionado that he is, spent most of that summer at the arcade section at Innoventions in EPCOT.
So I’ll put my adrenaline fueled post-teenage desires aside and write for the kids, because hey! I still haven’t grown up yet! I’ll try to assemble my top 10 attractions in Orlando for boys under 10. Suggestions are welcome!
10.Donald’s Boat (or any wet play area)
9.Playhouse Disney
8.Pirates of the Caribbean
7.Fantasmic
6.Kilimanjaro Safari
5.Goofy’s Barnstormer (for her 3 year old)
4.Peter Pan
3.Indy Speedway (Tomorrow-land)
2.Splash Mountain
1.Big Thunder Mountain
Honorable Mention: Test Track (cuz her 3 year old probably can’t ride)
